Scammed

Our Nephew (who's 24 or 25) showed up a little after the family egg hunt had started. When he arrived someone told him that there was a hundred dollar bill in an egg somewhere. He began searching all throughout the yard.

At one point he asked "Is there really?" or something along those lines. I totally admit that I replied "Yeah, sure there is." It was too easy to tell him this so that we could continue watching him search. Free entertainment.

Hey Will, did you ever find the $100?

Glorious Day

The Glorious Resurrection Sunday was a super day for our family.

We started out with an Easter basket

Had a great morning at church

Went to a buffet at the Irma with the family

Headed to Auntie's for another egg hunt

Played games and hung out
It was a blessed day

Eggventures

Yep, it was Saturday morning and time for the annual egg hunt at the local used-to-be golf course. The Prairie Kid was crazy and wore short sleeves in 40 degrees. He seemed to be fine...I don't force the coat cause I'm not the one who has to be cold. I seriously think he has Norwegian genes that insulate.

The kiddos were waiting for the start...

And they're off!

Comparing loot...

Preschool buddies reunite!

More Eggciting Crafts

After dying eggs we just weren't "Easter crafted out" yet. So, we got on familyfun.com and found some family fun for plastic eggs.

I especially enjoyed making the bunnies...

tail and all.

Eggcellent

It was a fun time for The Prairie Kid and I to decorate eggs on Good Friday.

I boiled 2 dozen eggs for him this year. I was glad to find a kit that had little buckets for the dye too.

He had a blast...look at this kooky kid...

He dyed 20 in the time I was able to dye 4. I had to "shut him down" because he would have re-dipped every egg over and over and we would have had a bunch of brown eggs...blech. So, I gave him some coffee filters and he colored them for a little while.
I spent much time on mine. Here they are...
I even named my eggs...going from top left clockwise:
"The Simple Flower Egg"
"The Plaid Egg"
"The Drippy Artsy Egg"
and "The Traditional Egg"

Yes, I may have gotten a little carried away but it was fun. And The Prairie Kid appreciated my "named art" because he's asked me to tell him the names more than once.

♫ There's A Hole In Your Mouth ♪

♪ dear Prairie Kid, dear Prairie Kid. A hole in your mouth, dear Prairie Kid, a hole. ♫

He was eating a quesadilla a little while ago and said "Owe! Mom, I'm bleeding!" And there it was, the loose tooth ready to come out. A minute later as I fumbled for the video camera saying "Don't pull it out yet!" I turned to find my son holding his tooth in his hand.

And there you have it, the first lost tooth.

Goodbye, Ol' Friend

It was one of those brutal days as a Mom. The Prairie Daddy and I sat our little man down today and told him that his beloved horse Jed has gotten old and doesn't feel very well. It was the last day that we had to go ride and see Jed and tomorrow he will be gone. He immediately asked the "dreaded question":

"Will he die?"

"Yes."

And from there we had a good, long family cry.

Afterward we got ready to go see Jed for the last time. The Prairie Kid had such an awesome attitude the whole time. He smiled and enjoyed his friend like never before. I took a bazillion pictures and some video.

Jed was way out in the field. The Prairie Kid ran out to meet him. Jed came right to him and we watched them walk toward us together.

We've enjoyed Jed immensely. We've gotten to take many family and friends on rides at our ranch with Jed. It is so hard to see a good, trusty horse get to the end of their health.

Right before heading home The Prairie Kid said "Goodbye, Jed. I love you." And I said goodbye. And I betcha The Prairie Daddy said goodbye.

He will be missed.
