Prairie Helper

I decided today was the day for The Prairie Kid to learn to clean a bathroom.  I look forward to days when he is older and can do some of my chores. ; )

The Prairie Daddy is out of town for 10 days on business.  It is the longest he's ever left us but it is going by fast (we're on Day 6) because we have been BUSY chickens with our heads cut off.  I volunteered to help the new kid's pastor with a Daddy Daughter Date Night event and between that and Valentine's Day this week, and being a solo parent to a kid, a dog and three cats, I have neglected the house and our meals terribly.  Now that the events are over and The Prairie Daddy is coming home in a few, it was high time to get the house re-established and cleaned.  And we are going to have a homemade meal tonight!

I wasn't about to clean house while my little man was watching shows so I recruited him to help.  I persuaded him by telling him I would make it fun and we would blast some music.  He was a trooper and cleaned up his toys, his room, vacuumed the family room, and learned to clean a bathroom.  I didn't even think he wouldn't be able to reach the top of the mirror...
But he figured it out.  So much for the clean counter ; )
Well, Prairie Daddy, we know you won't be home for a few days but we're ready!!!

Love Is In...

The Air My Stomach.

We celebrate Valentine's Day early this year because The Prairie Daddy is heading on the road for ultrasound.  I surprised him and The Prairie Kid tonight with a special dinner and he surprised me with flowers.  Funny, we never talked about having a Valentine's night but it was obviously on both of our minds.  : )  I love how the two become one.

We had home-grown rib eye steak, sauteed spinach, marinated tomatoes and cucumber and twice baked potatoes.

This is heaven on a fork...

We made things extra special for The Prairie Kid
And for dessert we had some of The Prairie Daddy's favorite dessert: sour cream raisin pie
I am one blessed, spoiled girl.  I am so thankful for my two amazing guys.  And I didn't have any trouble sharing a yummy meal with them either!

Fun In The Frigid Air

It is a cold winter on The Prairie this year but it is keeping the snow around so we're enjoying it.  That is easy for me to say though, I don't drive around on a four-wheeler in sub-zero temps.  It was - 6 today when we were driving to school.

The guys were geared up to go out and play in the snow

The Prairie Kid has been playing in the snow many days after school

And practicing snow boarding on the drifts

Looking good!

And, not so good.

The sky one night was incredible

The Prairie Heavy Equipment Company works year round
And you better not try to invade the snow fort...or you might get it
